Insurance Coverage:

The student must provide insurance coverage information on the physical/parent permission form (GHSA and County approved ONLY). If a family wishes to purchase student accident insurance for their child, a form can be obtained from the Athletic Office. The Forsyth County School District does not pay for medical expenses related to injury during competitions or practices. Personal insurance or purchased school insurance is required. Our track program is a self-funded program. In other words, with the exception of paying for some of the coaches' stipends, we do not receive any money from the school to pay for needed equipment, uniforms, transportation, and other important items needed to run a successful track & field program. Our team relies on each athlete's registration dues to help pay for these things.
This year's registration dues are $300 and payment will be due by Tuesday, January 14th, the night of our informational meeting. However, we encourage everyone to pay early if you can.
Uniforms
Athletes must wear the team uniform during competitions. We are using the same uniforms we have used for the last few years so only new athletes and athletes that have lost or outgrown their old uniforms will need to purchase one. Once purchased, the uniform will belong to the athlete and can be used for for future track seasons. The cost for a new uniform is $75. For athletes who only need to replace part of the uniform, the top costs $50 and the bottoms cost $30.
Payment
In summary, registration dues are $300 and if a uniform is needed, it will be an additional $75.
There will be two methods of registration dues this year, either by check or though SchoolPay.
  • If paying by check, please make the check out to LHS Track Booster Club and please be sure to write the athlete name(s) on the memo line.
Checks can be given directly to Coach Tigue in room 2302. Please don't just leave a check on his desk if he is not in his room!
  • We are in the process of setting up SchoolPay to receive booster club payments. Once we get it set up I will update the payment information.

Having a good pair of running shoes is essential for any track athlete, whether you're a beginner or an experienced athlete. When running, your feet hit the ground with a significant amount of force, which can lead to injury if not properly cushioned and supported. Good running shoes provide ample cushioning to absorb the impact and reduce stress on your feet, ankles, and knees. They also provide proper arch support and stability to prevent overpronation or supination, which can cause discomfort and increase the risk of injury. Investing in a high-quality pair of running shoes can improve your performance, increase your comfort, and reduce the risk of injury, making it an essential part of any runner's gear.
While running shoes can be found in all sorts of stores, it is highly recommended that you get yourself fitted at a running specialty store. Not only will the staff be more knowledgeable, but you are much more likely to be put in a pair of shoes that properly fit your unique body type and running style. Avoiding injuries that may occur from wearing cheap or poorly fitting shoes is well worth the extra few dollars a running specialty store may cost you.
Typically, a good pair of running shoes will cost you around $120 to $140. Once you find a shoe that works well for you, then you can start looking for deals on your next pair on Amazon or Running Warehouse. However, especially for our returning runners that have grown or changed their running style in the last year, it's probably a good idea to get fitted each year, just in case.
Finally, your new pair of running shoes should only be used for running. Typically, you should be able to run 350 to 500 miles on a single pair of shoes. However, they will wear down much quicker if you use them to walk around in. We suggest getting a new pair of training shoes for each running season: summer running, cross country, winter running, and track. Hold off on buy running spike for now.
